Crown Counsel Approves Charges Against Another Suspected Rioter

Crown Counsel has approved charges against another suspected rioter. A 17 year old from the Lower Mainland has been charged with participating in a riot and three counts of arson damaging property; he was part of the first round of 60 charges recommended to Crown.  As a young offender on June 15th, his name is withheld.

Charges have now been approved against 28 suspected rioters. To date, the Integrated Riot Investigation Team has recommended 215 charges against 80 individuals.

“For rioters, the slate doesn’t get wiped clean because it’s a new year,” says Team Commander Inspector Les Yeo. “If anything, the public can expect more rioters’ pictures for identification, more arrests and more charges to Crown by early 2012.”
