First Rioter Sentenced, More Charges Approved

“It’s a victory for the victims,” says Chief Constable Jim Chu, referring to the first sentence given to a rioter.

Inspector Les Yeo was very pleased with the outcome and announced another 11 charges approved by Crown today against five suspected rioters, bringing the total to 140 criminal charges against 52.

To date, the Integrated Riot Investigation Team has recommended 350 criminal charges against 125 suspected rioters. More charges are expected to come over the next few weeks.
