One man is in custody and another man is recovering after an alleged attack with an axe in an apartment late yesterday evening in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Shortly before 11 p.m. July 3rd, officers were flagged down by passersby at W. 4th Avenue and MacDonald Street who told them that there was a man bleeding from the neck at a nearby gas station.

Officers quickly discovered that the man had fled an apartment in the 2700 block W. 4th Avenue after allegedly being attacked with an axe by his roommate.

Police went to the apartment to find the possible suspect and after a short search he was found hiding in a nearby car and taken into custody without incident.

The 43 year old Vancouver man remains in custody and is facing possible assault causing bodily harm and weapons-related charges.

The potentially deadly assault appears to be the result of an argument between the roommates that quickly escalated to where the accused allegedly grabbed an axe and began to hit the victim.

The victim, a 39 year old Vancouver man, was taken to hospital and later released after being treated for several cuts to his head, neck, right hand and arm.
