A Vancouver Police officer is recovering at home following an early morning collision.

Shortly after 9:30 today, the on-duty police officer was riding a motorcycle and had just completed a right turn onto Clarke Drive from East 6th Avenue, when he was struck from behind by a van. The officer was knocked off his motorcycle and suffered undetermined injuries in the fall.

The officer was taken to hospital and has since been released with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors at this stage in the investigation. 

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating and is asking for anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet talked to police to call them at (604) 717-3012.
