Vancouver Police are investigating a rollover collision that sent a man and a woman to hospital with injuries.

Around midnight, police saw a car that was being driven at a high rate of speed, westbound on Kingsway Avenue from Joyce Street.

As police attempted to approach the car, the car sped off and a decision was made by police to not pursue.

Officers searching the area of Kingsway and Killarney Street found a sport utility vehicle that had rolled over in the intersection. Two occupants of the SUV, a Coquitlam man and woman, were assisted from the vehicle by Vancouver Fire Services and paramedics and were taken to hospital for the treatment of undetermined, non-life threatening injuries.

The other car believed to be involved in the apparent crash was found by police on Moss Street, north of Kingsway. The driver of that car, a Vancouver man, was taken into custody and to hospital for observation as a precaution.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is at the scene. It is early in the investigation, but it appears that speed and alcohol on the part of the driver of the car may have contributed to the collision.
