Police are investigating after two concrete lion statues in Stanley Park were vandalized overnight.

The damage was discovered earlier this morning after the vandalism was reported to city staff.

Police officers responded and discovered that two lions on the north side of the Stanley Park Causeway overpass were damaged. One lion’s face was destroyed and the second lion’s face and paws were removed.

“Investigators will be working with the Vancouver Park Board to ensure those responsible are held accountable for taking the roar out of these two lions,” says VPD spokesperson Sergeant Randy Fincham.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department at (604) 717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (888) 222-8477.
