Police have recovered the stolen gold and two men have been charged following Monday afternoon’s gold heist at the Douglas Reynolds Gallery.

On July 14th, shortly after 1 p.m., a man entered the Douglas Reynolds Gallery at Granville Street and West 7th Avenue, smashed a display cabinet and made off with a collection of gold Aboriginal art pieces. The crook was seen fleeing from the gallery in a waiting getaway car.

A short time later, police located the suspected getaway vehicle in the area of the robbery and the driver was taken into custody.

Detectives subsequently identified the second suspect thought to be responsible for the robbery. Early yesterday morning, police executed a search warrant at his rooming house and located several pieces of the stolen jewellery.

Forty-one year-old Harold Jason Amos of Vancouver has now been charged with armed robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and possession of stolen property.

The alleged driver, 51-year-old Scott Robert Deckert of Vancouver, has been charged with one count of armed robbery.
