Investigators with the Vancouver Police continue to examine the death of a 51-year-old man on Abbott near Pender Street.
Shortly before 8:00 this morning, the victim was involved in an altercation with another man out front of the Lotus Hotel.
After the altercation, the victim entered the lobby of the hotel and collapsed. Police and paramedics arrived, but they were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have detained a 40-year-old man in relation to the incident and the VPD Major Crime Section continues to investigate.
The cause of death was not readily apparent and has not yet been confirmed. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
