The pedestrian involved in yesterday’s cyclist-involved collision in Stanley Park has now died as a result of his injuries.

Around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a 71-year-old man was crossing Stanley Park Drive in the area of the totem poles when he was struck by a 57-year-old man who was riding his bike on the roadway. The pedestrian was knocked to the ground where it is believed that he suffered a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital where he died early this morning.

The cyclist, who was emotionally shaken but not injured in the collision, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.

This is Vancouver’s 2nd pedestrian fatality out of a total of 8 traffic related fatalities in 2014.
