Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision on West Broadway that has left one man in critical condition.

Shortly after midnight, police responded to a crash on West Broadway near Cypress Street after receiving reports that an eastbound sport utility vehicle had collided with a westbound car.

When police arrived, they found the car with significant damage and a 29=year-old man trapped inside. He was removed from the car by Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He remains in critical condition.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle, a 31=year-old woman, has been detained by police as investigators believe that alcohol played a role in the crash. She was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is on scene.

Drivers can expect delays on West Broadway as police conduct their investigation.
