Update: Identity of Victim
Officers remain at the scene of the city’s tenth murder after a 20 -year-old man was found dead in East Vancouver.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., police received several 9-1-1 calls reporting the sound of gunfire on Seaforth Drive near Rupert Street.
Police and paramedics arrived and located the victim lying on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is known to police and was on bail at the time of his death on a charge of manslaughter. It is believed this shooting was targeted.
The name of the victim is not being released until next-of-kin notifications have been completed.
Investigators will be speaking with witnesses and canvasing for video as the VPD Forensic Identification Unit processes the crime scene for evidence. No arrests have been made.
