A 60-year-old man has died in hospital following an altercation earlier this week.

On August 11th around 1 a.m., two men were involved in an argument outside of the Shenanigans Nightclub located on Robson Street near Bute. Witnesses say one of the men, a 60-year-old Vancouver resident, was punched and knocked to the ground where he suffered what was thought to be a minor head injury. The man was taken to hospital, but he refused treatment and left. A short time later, paramedics were called to a West End apartment building, and found him unresponsive on the floor in his suite. He was returned to hospital, where it was determined that he was suffering from a serious brain bleed. He was pronounced dead in hospital yesterday morning.

Investigators from the VPD’s Major Crime Section are investigating, speaking with witnesses and reviewing video to identify the second person involved in the dispute.

Police are looking for a white man in his 20s, 5’10” tall, with a heavy build. He was wearing a baseball cap on backwards and a button-up shirt.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call investigators at (604) 717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
