Update: September 8, 2015

Vancouver Police are appealing to the public to help identify a man who is a person of interest in the attempted abduction of an eight-year-old girl near Stanley Park.

At about 8:30 a.m. on September 4th, the girl was approached from behind by a man at the north foot of Denman Street near the sea wall. He grabbed her and attempted to drag her away, but was confronted by the child’s parents. He ran off and was last seen in the area of the pedestrian underpass to Lost Lagoon.

Police flooded the area and searched for the man. No arrests have been made.

Investigators have now obtained video footage of a person-of-interest in the case.

He is white, 20- to 30-years-old, approximately 5’8″ tall, has a thin build, dark hair and a bushy goatee. He was wearing a green and black camouflage hoodie, green pants, an orange and yellow construction vest, and white sunglasses or goggles on his head.

Police believe that he was lingering in the area prior to the attack.
