Update: September 28 – Victim Identified
Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the city’s 13th murder of 2015.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., police received multiple calls to 9-1-1 regarding shots fired in the mall parking lot on King Edward Avenue near Oak Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man in the passengers seat of a white Toyota Camry clearly dead.
While it is still early in the investigation, the attack appears targeted.
The area was busy with shoppers at the time, and as a result several witnesses have been taken by bus to a VPD building to be interviewed. Many of those witnesses were clearly shaken by the incident.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the victim and no arrests have been made.
