Update: October 25, 2016

Vancouver Police are continuing to investigate a fatal party bus collision in downtown Vancouver that has left a 23 year-old woman dead.

Around 9:30 p.m. last night, police responded to Burrard and West Hastings Street after receiving a report that a woman had fallen from a party bus. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the death of the woman.

It is early in the investigation, but it appears that a group of approximately 24 people were celebrating a birthday inside the bus. As the bus turned south on Burrard Street, after travelling west on West Hastings Street, the woman, who was inside the bus, fell from an open door to the street where she was struck by the bus.

The driver was alerted by passengers and he immediately stopped the bus. He is co-operating with the police investigation.
