An 85-year-old man struck by a car yesterday has now died as a result of the injuries received.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, the elderly man was crossing 49th Avenue at Fraser Street. He was struck in the crosswalk by a woman making a left turn off of Fraser. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with a head injury, but died today. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The VPD Collision Investigation Unit continues to examine all of the factors involved in the incident, but speed and alcohol are not involved.

This is Vancouver’s third traffic related fatality. Two of those killed in collisions this year have been pedestrians.
