The Vancouver Police Mounted Unit is kicking off a campaign in Stanley Park to help reduce theft-from-autos.

On May 20th, VPD Mounted officers, along with community safety officers, park rangers, staff from the Vancouver Aquarium, and volunteers from the West End-Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre, will be raising awareness and educating visitors on how to avoid being the victim of theft.

“Theft-from-autos can be prevented,” says VPD Constable Brian Montague. “Remove everything from your car because if you leave it, thieves won’t.”

Visitors driving into the park will be asked not to leave valuables in their car and given a VPD seat mat. After they park and remove their valuables to go and enjoy the park, they can place the seat mat inside that tells thieves there is nothing in their car worth stealing.
