RestART Wrap 1Artistic youth in Vancouver are getting to RestART — learning about graffiti, its impact on the community, and discovering other ways to share their creative talents.

The VPD’s Youth Services Unit and the Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre have partnered with the City of Vancouver’s Integrated Graffiti Management Program to launch RestART – Restorative Justice Through Art.

These workshops bring together police with artistic youth involved in criminal activity to learn about restorative justice and the impact that graffiti has on the community. Artwork created by the RestART participants will be wrapping electrical boxes throughout the city.

RestART began in November of 2015 with 11 kids. More budding artists are expected to join in the fall of 2016.
