The driver involved in Saturday’s hit-and-run on Victoria Drive has turned himself in after seeing media coverage of the collision.

Just before 7:30 p.m. last Saturday, a 62-year-old woman was struck by a silver Volkswagen Jetta as she crossed Victoria Drive at Williams Street. The driver fled and the woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Evidence was collected at the scene, including video of the incident. On Tuesday, police made a plea for the driver to come forward.

As a result of the media coverage, a 67-year-old Vancouver man turned himself into investigators on Wednesday afternoon, and has allegedly identified himself as the driver of the Jetta. He has been released from custody and the investigation is ongoing. The woman remains in hospital.
