Vancouver Police are investigating an early morning single vehicle crash on Vancouver’s West Side that claimed the life of a man in his 20s.

Just before 1 a.m. March 4th, a white Mercedes sedan was travelling eastbound on West 16th Avenue at Discovery Street when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. Unfortunately, the only occupant, a 21-year-old UBC resident, died at the scene.

This is Vancouver’s second fatal collision of 2018. Officers from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are on scene and have closed West 16th Avenue between Trimble and Courtenay Streets while they conduct their investigation. Speed appears to have been a factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
