A man in his 50s has been charged with manslaughter following the death of an elderly man who was allegedly assaulted in Vancouver last December.

An altercation took place outside Costco on Expo Boulevard just after 11 a.m. on December 20, 2017. The victim, 86-year-old Orlando Ocampo of Vancouver, was rushed to hospital, and died of his injuries on January 11, 2018.

Vancouver resident, Thomas Stephen Toth, 58, was identified early in the investigation, and has since been charged with manslaughter. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 14 at 2 p.m.

There have been nine homicides in Vancouver in 2018.
