Shortly after 2 p.m. on January 26th, a citizen reported finding the remains of what appears to be human bones inside a boot. The boot was found in the sand along the water line at the dog park near the Maritime Museum at the foot of Arbutus Street. The area has been cordoned off and the BC Coroners Service has been notified.
There is no indication at this early stage in the investigation how the remains came to be there, and further forensic examination by the BC Coroners Service will be required.
All media enquiries should be directed to the Coroner Barb McLintock with the Coroner’s Service of British Columbia at 250-356-9253.
