Vancouver Police and policing partners from across the region once again worked together to make the second night of the 2012 Celebration of Light a successful one.

Liquor interdiction was the focus for police as hundreds of officers greeted thousands of people attending English Bay and Kits Point.

Officers on foot, horseback and bicycles, as well as Air One and the VPD Public Safety Unit were highly visible to ensure everyone had a good time and felt safe in the large crowds.

There were still a large number of liquor pour-outs, but there were no significant incidents of note. This was another successful family-oriented event.

The Vancouver Police Marine Unit was kept busy on the waters of English Bay. It is estimated that there was in excess of 600 boats of various sizes and the Marine Unit had hundreds of interactions with boaters. One example was a heavily intoxicated 18 year old woman in a deflating dinghy not wearing a personal floatation device. She was safely taken on board the VPD boat and arrested for public intoxication.
