Original Release  |  Update

Investigators with the Vancouver Police and Fire Department have not been able to conclusively determine the cause and origin of the fire this morning.

A body was found inside the burned van in East Vancouver after VFRS put out the flames shortly after 6:00.

Police have spent the day documenting and gathering evidence at the rear of a home on Victoria Drive near East 12th Avenue where the van was parked.

The body found inside the burned van is a man, but his identity has not been confirmed.

An autopsy will be conducted later this week. Once completed, the Coroner will be able to confirm the man’s identity and determine the official cause of death.
