Vancouver Police have arrested an 18 year old Vancouver man in relation to the shooting last night near St. George Street and 52nd Avenue.

At about 6:10 p.m., police received calls to 9-1-1 reporting several shots had been fired. Shortly after, a 19 year old woman and 18 year old man walked in to Vancouver General Hospital. The woman had minor injuries believed to have been sustained as a result of the shooting.

Police arrived at VGH and found the man and woman, along with an SUV with damage from gunfire.

At 11:30 p.m., officers located a suspect at a home near the shooting and took him into custody without incident.

The scene of the shooting was thoroughly processed and the SUV was towed for forensic examination.

The investigation is on-going and detectives continue to gather evidence. Early indications are that the shooting was targeted and related to a dispute between the two men, who are known to each other. The woman who was treated and released from VGH is not believed to have been the intended target.

Police have submitted a report to Crown Counsel requesting charges of attempted murder and  various firearms related offences.
