Update

A 17 year old youth remains in hospital in stable but serious condition and one man is in custody following a late night school-yard stabbing.

Around 11:30 last night, police responded to reports of a fight in the field near Britannia Secondary School. When police arrived, they found the youth suffering from a severe slash wound to the neck.

The boy was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery early this morning.

A 23 year old Vancouver man was arrested without incident and police will be requesting charges for attempted murder.

Anyone who witnessed the stabbing and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
