A jury found 55 year old Nirmala Arjun guilty of 2nd degree murder yesterday in relation to a 2009 Vancouver homicide.
At 7:15 a.m. on January 29th, 2009, Vancouver Police were called to a suite in the 2100 block of Cassiar Street where they discovered the city’s 3rd homicide of that year. The victim, 65 year old William Canning from New Westminster, had been stabbed.
After a lengthy investigation by the VPD Major Crime Section, Arjun was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder on July 29th, 2010. Arjun and Canning were known to each other.
Arjun’s next court appearance will be on November 20th to fix a date for sentencing.
