Charges against one young man have been approved in the death of his own father, after an extensive investigation by Vancouver Police.
Eighty-year-old Vladimir Shevalev was found dead in his Coal Harbour apartment on March 1st, 2015. It was initially believed that the death was a result of natural causes, however, the primary examination by police into the circumstances raised concerns resulting in an investigation by the VPD Major Crime Section.
The victim’s son, 19-year-old Alexander Konstanovich Shevalev, was arrested yesterday and has been charged with manslaughter. He remains in custody until his next court appearance on June 12th.
This is Vancouver’s 7th homicide of 2015. As the matter is now before the courts, no further details will be provided.
