Investigators are looking into the factors involved in a fatal collision in the Downtown Eastside earlier this morning that claimed the life of an elderly pedestrian.
Shortly before 9:00 a.m., an 89-year-old woman was crossing Main Street at East Hastings when she was struck by a slow-moving semi-truck and trailer attempting to make a left turn. The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and has been cooperative with police.
While it is still early in the investigation, it is believed the driver entered the intersection on a green light.
Police continue to speak with witnesses and canvass for any possible video of the incident.
