Vancouver Police are reminding the public to be aware of potential traffic disruptions during 4/20 activities taking place today at Sunset Beach and near the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Police are anticipating large crowds to gather at Sunset Beach that will likely cause traffic disruptions on Beach Avenue between Pacific and Thurlow streets. Beach Avenue will be closed to eastbound traffic and only local westbound vehicles will be permitted until 10 p.m. Parking restrictions will remain in place until 12 a.m.

An additional gathering is expected near the Vancouver Art Gallery, with potential traffic disruptions on surrounding streets. Officers are on-scene to ensure that the traffic disruptions are minimal.

Vancouver Police officers will be looking for drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol. Drivers can expect to see drug recognition experts and officers equipped with alcohol screening devices throughout the day. Police are reminding the public not to drive impaired and to plan for a safe commute home.

Information on additional disruptions to traffic, as a result of the 4/20 activities, will be posted on Twitter (@VancouverPD) and Facebook (Vancouver Police Department).
