Vancouver Police are investigating Vancouver’s fourth traffic fatality of 2018. In three of the four traffic fatalities this year, the victims have been pedestrians.

On Tuesday, just before 2 p.m., first responders were called to Victoria Drive and Kingsway Avenue, where an elderly man had been struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk. The 82-year-old Vancouver man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away.

VPD Collision investigators believe that the pedestrian was crossing Kingsway, walking north in a marked crosswalk, when a southbound car on Victoria Drive made a left turn onto Kingsway and struck him.

The driver remained at the scene, and is cooperating with investigators.
