On Saturday evening, just before 9 p.m., a fan was escorted out of BC Place after he ran onto the field, disrupting the play at the BC Lions home opener.

The fan, a man in his 20s from Surrey, was escorted off the field by BC Place security, who were supported by a Vancouver Police officer.

The VPD issued the fan with a $115 violation ticket under s.4(1) of the Trespass Act for “trespass on enclosed land or premises, or engage in prohibited activity.”

He was not charged with a criminal offence and was offered an ambulance, which he declined.

He was escorted out of BC Place and was released at the scene and not transported to jail as previously stated.
