Vancouver Police are asking a Good Samaritan to come forward following an incident in East Vancouver last week.

On December 21, police received a report of a sexual assault that took place on Saturday, December 15 just after midnight. A woman was walking on Main Street near East 17th Avenue when a man approached her and offered her assistance with a phone call. He then over-powered the woman and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been startled, which caused him to run to the west. He has been described as white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’6″ tall, with a stocky build, bulging eyes, and dirty hands. He was wearing a black puffy jacket with red fleece underneath, and over-sized pants.

A Good Samaritan encountered the victim shortly after the assault and walked with her a significant distance to ensure she got home safely. Police would like to speak to the Good Samaritan or anyone who has information about this sexual assault. They are asked to call investigators at 604-717-0604.
