Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that has claimed the life of a pedestrian, and are appealing to the driver to come forward.

Just after 3:00 this morning, a passerby called police after he discovered a man who appeared to have been struck and seriously injured by a vehicle on Kingsway near Glen Drive.

The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Vancouver man, died shortly after being taken to hospital. Information gathered so far indicates that a vehicle was heading east on Kingsway when it struck the pedestrian and then left the scene. The driver has not been identified.

Investigators with the VPD’s Collison Investigation Unit believe the vehicle involved will have front-end damage, including a broken headlight. Vancouver Police are asking the driver, or anyone with information about this incident, to call the Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717- 3012 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
