Update: Vancouver Police arrest suspect in city’s third homicide

The Vancouver Police have arrested 18-year-old Christopher Aiden Kematch in relation to Friday night’s homicide in the Downtown Eastside.

At around 9:15 p.m. March 15, there was an altercation near the intersection of Keefer Street and Jackson Avenue. The victim, 19-year-old Dakota Saje Wildeman-McNeil, was allegedly assaulted with a weapon before the suspect ran off. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

Police arrested the suspect in downtown Vancouver Sunday morning just after midnight.

Crown counsel has approved a manslaughter charge against Kematch. He remains in custody.
