Correction: On May 13, Vancouver Police notified the public of the arrest of two offenders for multiple commercial break-ins. The VPD stated that a property crime investigation led to 70 separate charges against the two, which was incorrect. VPD investigators presented 70 charges to Crown for review. However, 30 charges were accepted and approved by Crown against the two suspects.

The following charges were approved by Crown against Shane Duhamel:

  • 13 counts of break-and-enter contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of possession of break-in instruments contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The following charges were approved by Crown against Jesse Palanio:

  • six counts of break-and-enter contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • two counts identity theft contrary to section 402.2(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of deal with identity documents contrary to section 56.1 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of possess break in instruments contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of possessing prohibited weapons contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • two counts of breach of release orders contrary to section 145(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of fraud contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of personation with intent contrary to section 403(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • one count of possession of stolen property contrary to section 355 of the Criminal Code of Canada

The investigations against these two people are ongoing. VPD investigators anticipate recommending additional charges in the future.
