Man injured in South Vancouver shooting

Vancouver Police are investigating a shooting last evening in Vancouver’s Sunset neighborhood, which has sent a man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The injured man, a 33-year-old Vancouver resident, called police just before 9:45 p.m. to report the shooting in the area of East 53rd Avenue and Sophia Street. VPD officers located the victim and provided medical assistance until BC Ambulance service arrived and transported him to a local hospital, where he remains.

“Our officers are continuing to investigate and gather information,” says Sergeant Aaron Roed, VPD. “This incident appears to be targeted and we don’t believe there is any threat to public safety.”

Detectives from VPD’s Major Crime Section want to speak with anyone with may have information about this shooting. Witnesses are asked to call the Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541, or to make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
