VPD arrest man in Vancouver’s ninth homicide

Vancouver Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Victoria after the murder of Vancouver resident Thomus Donaghy on July 27.

Maximus Roland Hayes has been charged with one count of manslaughter for the death of Mr. Donaghy.

Vancouver Police responded to a 9-1-1 call for a man who had been stabbed outside of the Overdose Prevention Site at St. Paul’s Hospital. Thomus Donaghy was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries with VPD making an appeal to the public for witnesses to come forward on July 31. Vancouver Police detectives were able to identify Maximus Hayes as a suspect and arrested him in North Vancouver on August 13. The charge was approved by the BC Prosecution service.

Mr. Hayes is in custody. This marks Vancouver’s ninth homicide of 2020.
